Frank Fritz: A Life in the Seat

Frank Fritz’s story is a classic tale of dedication, hard work, and a love for motorcycles that began in his youth. While his peers spent their time on extracurricular activities, Frank was busy collecting beer cans, stamps, and dreaming about motorbikes. His passion for motorcycles took shape early, but it wasn’t until his sophomore year of high school that he realized his dream of owning one.

With the guidance of his stepfather, who instilled a strong work ethic, Frank learned early on that if he wanted something, he had to work for it. Frank spent his summers attending school in the mornings and working in the afternoons, saving every penny until he could afford his first bike—a 1959 Harley-Davidson Sportster. The sight of Frank riding his Sportster to school was iconic. While other kids were being dropped off by their parents, Frank was already experiencing the freedom that comes with owning a Harley, a machine his father famously remarked could be just as dangerous as a Honda 350, but far more rewarding.

Frank still owns that original Sportster. It's more than just a motorcycle; it's a lifelong companion that has been with him through decades of adventures. One of his favorite destinations has always been Sturgis, where Frank has attended the legendary rally for over 30 years. While many others now arrive in motorhomes or fly in to stay in hotels, Frank stays true to his roots. Every year, he rides his bike to Sturgis, camping in the same spot, and reliving the tradition he started in his younger days. Laps up and down Main Street, sunup to sundown, have become a ritual, a testament to the timeless joy he finds in riding.

For Frank, motorcycling is more than just a hobby—it’s a way of life. His greatest personal achievement, he says, is his ability to work hard, set goals, and maintain lifelong friendships. But as a motorcyclist, his proudest accomplishment is keeping his first bike and still riding it to this day. While others may have dabbled in the motorcycle culture—getting tattoos or buying and selling bikes—Frank’s love for motorcycling has never wavered. It’s in his blood, a passion that has shaped who he is and continues to fuel his sense of freedom and adventure.

Frank Fritz’s story is a reminder that sometimes the simplest pleasures—riding a motorcycle, working for what you want, and cherishing lifelong friendships—are the most fulfilling. His enduring love for his Harley, and the open road, speaks to the heart of motorcycling culture. It’s not about the flash or the latest trends; it’s about staying true to who you are and the bike that’s been with you every step of the way.
