Ron Finch: The Visionary Behind 'Art in Motion'

Since 1965, Ron Finch has been captivating the world of custom motorcycles with his iconic and innovative designs. What began in a small shop in Pontiac, Michigan—Finch’s Custom Styles Cycles—has transformed into a career spanning over 45 years, filled with masterpieces that redefine the concept of "Art in Motion."

Finch’s approach to motorcycle building goes beyond mechanics; it’s a fusion of art and functionality. His unique style, often labeled as “too extreme” by traditionalists, celebrates the freedom and individualism at the core of motorcycle culture. From mechanical precision to the explosion of colors in his paintwork, Finch’s motorcycles are as much fine art as they are machines designed for the open road.

His dedication has not gone unnoticed. Finch's custom creations have graced the pages of hundreds of magazines and been showcased in prestigious museums and events across the globe—from the U.S. to Europe, including Germany, France, Sweden, and the Netherlands. A crowning achievement in his career was the opportunity to display twelve of his creations at the Milwaukee Art Museum during Harley-Davidson’s 105th Anniversary celebration in 2008, a testament to his status as a true visionary in the world of motorcycle design.

Even as he celebrated his 80th birthday in March 2019, Ron Finch’s passion shows no signs of slowing down. From his studio, he continues to design, paint, and create awe-inspiring motorcycles and artwork, leaving an indelible mark on both the world of motorcycling and the broader world of art.

Ron Finch’s legacy stands as a tribute to creativity, freedom, and the boundless possibilities of what can be achieved when art and engineering come together on two wheels.
