A Lifelong Love Affair with Harley-Davidson: Ray’s Journey from Childhood to Iconic Designer

At the tender age of six, Ray's life took a pivotal turn with his first ride on the back of his oldest brother Don's 1958 Panhead dresser. That single moment on two wheels ignited a lifelong passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles, with the unmistakable roar of the engine setting his soul ablaze.

Fast forward to 1993, when Ray’s dream became reality. He was handpicked by none other than Willie G. Davidson himself to join Harley-Davidson Motorcycles as a Design Stylist. Working alongside the legendary Davidson family, Ray honed his craft, learning to balance his creative vision with the needs of the masses. His role went beyond just design; Ray became instrumental in shaping the brand's iconic look, helping to craft the visual identity that Harley-Davidson enthusiasts have come to know and love.

Looking back, Ray takes the most pride in the creative styling team he helped build at the Motor Company. Under his guidance, Harley’s design team flourished, infusing their collective imagination into each new model, ensuring that the Harley legacy lived on, stronger and more innovative than ever.

In 2020, Ray retired from Harley-Davidson, but his passion for creation didn’t end there. Having left behind the corporate grind, he now channels his artistic spirit into his own projects, continuing to design and craft pieces that speak to the free spirit inside us all. Whether it’s through custom artwork or bespoke motorcycle designs, Ray’s mission is clear: to liberate souls, one creation at a time.

Ray’s love affair with Harley-Davidson may have begun as a child, but it’s a story that continues to inspire and evolve, just like the brand he helped shape.
