Karen Davidson

A Legacy in Motion

Karen Davidson, the great-granddaughter of Harley-Davidson co-founder William A. Davidson, has lived a life deeply rooted in the Harley-Davidson brand. Starting to ride at just nine years old, Karen’s journey has been one of creativity, passion, and dedication to upholding the iconic legacy of Harley-Davidson.

Karen’s career path began in the arts, but her love for design soon led her into the garment industry. Working her way up in New York’s fashion world, she transitioned to Harley-Davidson, where she co-founded the brand’s MotorClothes line, an iconic collection of functional and casual apparel that expanded Harley’s offerings beyond loyal customers. Under her leadership, the line grew into a $300 million success.

Known for her passion for riding and leather apparel, Karen has revolutionized functional riding gear, pioneering advancements in materials and rider comfort. She played a key role in expanding Harley’s women’s apparel line as more women embraced motorcycling, ensuring the brand remained at the forefront of both fashion and function.

In 1991, Karen received recognition from the Council of Fashion Designers of America for Harley-Davidson’s influence on fashion. Her dedication to authenticity, innovation, and originality reflects the teachings of her father, Willie G. Davidson, who inspired her to take creative risks.

Today, Karen continues to champion Harley-Davidson’s rich heritage as a brand ambassador, supporting global events, riders, and custom builders. Living in California, she runs the Harley-Davidson R&D studio, fueling the company’s future in both functional and casual apparel.

Karen is honored to be inducted into the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum Hall of Fame, alongside her brother Bill and parents Willie G. and Nancy. For her, it’s a humbling recognition of her lifelong dedication to the brand and the community it serves.
