Early Passion & Career Beginnings

Born in Greenville, S.C., in 1932, Pete Hill’s lifelong journey with motorcycles began at an early age. Mesmerized by the sight of Harleys at a downtown parade when he was just five years old, Pete declared to his sisters that he would become a motorcycle rider. By the age of 15, he was already adept at working on bikes for friends, a passion that never waned throughout his life.


Racing Career & Achievements

In 1977, Pete and Jackie began building the Knucklehead nitro supercharged top fuel bike, the Silver Bullet. Ready for racing in 1978, it competed in 140 races, winning 51 and setting 21 records. By 1981, they secured their first AMA Top Fuel Championship. Their success continued with the 1988 AMRA championship, setting nine records and achieving the first four-second 1/8 mile run for a Harley worldwide. Throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, Pete Hill Racing dominated drag racing, winning multiple championships and setting enduring records. His team earned the top fuel award nine times at the Sturgis Drag Strip, solidifying their legacy in the racing community.


Legacy & Impact

Pete Hill's dedication to Harley-Davidson racing, sportsmanship, and friendship earned him numerous accolades, including the Lifetime Legend Award in 2022. His enduring passion for motorcycles and collaboration with his wife Jackie left a lasting impact on the racing world. After retiring from racing in 1994, Pete remained active, building engines with his son Tommy, inspiring generations of motorcycle enthusiasts with their commitment to excellence and innovation
