In the 1970s, while freedom fighters like Sherman Packard and Ron Roloff were valiantly battling mandatory helmet legislation, a formidable woman named Penny Walker was right there with them, fighting with equal fervor. After their triumphs at the Capitol, Penny joined the American Motorcycle Association (AMA) as a Congress member and later as a Government Relations Liaison. Even in her so-called "down time," Penny was tirelessly writing letters to Senators and Representatives, championing the cause.
Despite health challenges, Penny's relentless spirit never wavered. From 1989 to 1994, she volunteered her expertise to the nationally acclaimed Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF), organizing legislative meetings, seminars, and conventions. Her dedication earned her a place in the Motorcycle Riders Foundation’s Freedom Fighter Hall of Fame in 2018.
Penny Walker passed away on December 31, 2008, following a long illness, but her legacy as a tenacious advocate for motorcyclist rights endures.
